The sweltering summer heat brought out all the cool kids for NYC Media Buzz’s July soirée. The spot this month was the chill digs of Arctica Bar & Grill, who took care of us with discounted drink specials. NYC Media Buzz set off a social media storm, tweeting about arriving guests and providing plenty of check ins on Foursquare. A brand-new year brings about brand-new networking opportunities, and we’d like to think that there are none better than Media Buzz Mixers! The NYC contingent kicked off 2011 with a mixer at Slate, filled with good discussions, war story trading and updates on some of the biggest moves and shakes in the industry. Everyone left a little bit more in the know about what’s going on behind the scenes — and took a few business cards home with them for after-hours follow-ups. The March edition of NYC Media Buzz featured plenty of reasons to celebrate. The group got its first experience with Pazza Notte, where we imbibed on 2-for-1 martinis (well, most of us. Word has it the coordinators refrained from drinking. WTF?), toasted to new jobs and new loves, laughed long and loud, and separated by hugging it out.  We even had our sixth person who has been to Media Buzzes in both Arizona and New York. Is it any surprise this month’s mixer lasted for nearly 4 hours? You can get a taste of the fun by visiting the photo album, but we’d rather have you on hand for the real deal next month!

Great service, great environment and great company. Clearly we’re talking about the February edition of NYC Media Buzz. With nearly 20 attendees congregating at West 3rd Common near the NYU campus, a good time was had by all at the former Indian restaurant turned dive bar. But don’t let the dive bar classification fool you — West 3rd Common is as classy as they come. Media Mavens imbibed on wine, cocktails and martinis while schmoozing about the latest industry buzz. Eek! Tardy for the party yet again! (Apologies: anytime a Real Housewives of Atlanta reference can be made, we’re gonna hop on the opportunity!)

NYC Media Buzz just uploaded a few pics from our last event, but don’t let a shortage of photos give the impression that January’s mixer at Lucy’s Mexican Cantina was anything less than a success. Quite the opposite, in fact, as nearly 30 media mavens showed up, swapped cards and schmoozed over nachos, quesadillas and tacos.

With so many attendees, we’d say that 2010 is off to a great start — and, needless to say, we’re looking forward to our next gathering on February 18. Mark your calendars and we’ll provide details soon.

The people have spoken, and People Kitchen & Lounge is a winner!

NYC Media Buzz members met up at the cozy Lower East Side lounge for good company, great deals and a sexy atmosphere.

Seriously, who didn’t love the dimly lit, two-story venue and its delicious selection of beers, cocktails and wines? (Did we mention wine?) Our little nook at People was the perfect size for the PR, broadcast, print, Web, legal, events and marketing attendees to share chicken dumplings, skewers and calamari while chatting about the status of the industry.

NYC Media Buzz Today (10/10)

NYC Media Buzz is today, October 10, at 5 p.m. We’ll be meeting at reBar nyc, 147 Front Street in Brooklyn. Bring your business card because we’ll be having a drawing for a free $25 tab to be used today at reBar!

And check out the MTA site for train schedules, as many lines are experiencing delays this weekend.

Yikes! NYC Media Buzz hates to be tardy for the party, but a busy week prevented the uploading of pics from our most recent event in a more timely fashion.

As they say, better late than never.

Our gracious hosting venue, Slate, set us up with pool and ping-pong tables to relieve our media-job-related stress. A good time was had by those who came, and we have the photographic evidence to prove it. Click here to see the pics.

The quarterly NYC Media Buzz: Weekend Edition takes place in Brooklyn on Saturday, October 10 at reBar nyc and NYC Media Buzz, the weeknight version, will happen on Wednesday, October 21 at People Kitchen & Lounge in the Lower East Side. (Word has it there’s going to be some sort of drawing at the 10/10 event in Brooklyn, so bring your entry form, better known as your business card.
